Philippa Anderson
The dream of qualifying for the World Championship Tour (WCT) was the drive for Philippa for the past 18 years. With many, many years experience on the World Qualifying Series (WQS) and some huge results, Philippa wants to share her knowledge with the younger generation. The Anderson family immigrated to Australia and ended up in the beautiful town of Newcastle.
Philippa experienced a little taste of the life of a Professional Surfer. Representing Australia at the ISA World Junior Games, 2nd in the World Junior Championships (twice), three break through performances on the WQS and 3 WCT appearances as a wild card winner/ injury replacement.
A few years later Roxy and her parted ways. Despite not having a major sponsor Philippa never gave up on her dream. There were a few hard years of juggling part time work to earn money to keep that WQS dream alive. Semi final and final appearances in 6star WQS events lead to 5 consecutive years finishing in the Top 15 on the WQS rankings and Top 25 in the World rankings. Her determination, love for the sport, hard work in the gym and faith in her ability was a huge drive to never give up on her dream of making the WCT.
Philippa is now excited to take a different approach, still compete but focus more on the next generation and grow her business.

Luca Wheatley
Born in the historic town of Catherine Hill Bay, the ocean has always been home to Leuca. She has been surfing since she was six years old and, at 18, is just as in love with it as when she first started.
Leuca is heavily involved in Surf Life Saving and holds both her Bronze and Silver Medallions, giving her strong water safety skills and confidence in all kinds of conditions.
When Leuca’s not surfing, she’s usually swimming or sailing. She aims to create a kind, supportive space where everyone feels comfortable giving surfing a go.
Outside of the ocean, Leuca is passionate about music and loves to sing and play guitar.
Katie Rae
Katie absolutely loves the water. Growing up, she was heavily involved with Surf Life Saving, excelling in swimming at the state level and participating in many water-based sports including team sports like rowing. Through these experiences, she gained valuable surf and life-saving skills.
As the daughter of one of the “Ninemile Dozen,” Katie developed a passion for surfing at a young age and continues to participate in the annual Ninemile competition. With a penchant for taking on challenges, Katie has tried her hand at numerous sports, but her favorites remain surfing and aerial silks.
In addition to her athletic pursuits, Katie is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian. When she’s not riding the waves or hanging from dizzying heights, you can find her in the community providing dietetic services to some of our most vulnerable members. Katie is proudly neurodivergent and takes great joy in supporting individuals with varying abilities in achieving their life goals, whether it’s in the water or in their day-to-day lives.
